Global Security Institute
A message from Pierce regarding the Global Security Institute:
In 2003, I had the honor of bestowing the Alan Cranston Peace Award upon
Hon. Nancy Pelosi.
Here are some pictures from the event.
Two close friends, Dr. Jane Goodall and Jonathan Granoff,
who work so diligently to ensure a safe, secure, and sustainable
future for our children, helped host the Alan Cranston Peace
Award at the United Nations in April 2005. I had the privilege
of knowing Senator Cranston, who founded the Global Security
Institute, and can still remember the beautiful brightness
in his smiling eyes that revealed a depth of caring not usual
in today's political environment.
The Award given in this video
is bestowed upon Ted Turner for his outstanding work to advance
nuclear disarmament, protect the environment, and advance
the UN. President Mikhail Gorbachev gives his first speech
at the UN since he began ending the Cold War with his speech
there in 1988. I share this with you because I believe that
my friends are helping to bring us substance, sincerity, and
inspiration. Inspiration in these times is surely a treasure.
More about the Global Security Institute:
"Intelligent, strategic, subtle and professional are words that best describe the Global Security Institute's effective work with governments. I am proud of the work we have done together and encourage others to support GSI so that we can succeed in the future." -Pierce
The Global Security Institute has developed an exceptional team that includes former heads of state and government, distinguished diplomats, effective politicians, committed celebrities, religious leaders, Nobel Peace Laureates, and concerned citizens. This team works to achieve incremental steps that enhance security and lead to the global elimination of nuclear weapons. GSI works through four result-oriented program areas that target:
- Members of Congress and their staff;
- Heads of State or Government, and government officials of middle power countries;
- Parliamentarians around the world; and
- Leaders in the global community
