Global Green
In 1993, Mikhail Gorbachev devoted his attention to what he rightly foresaw as the greatest challenge to the 21st century, the environment, through Green Cross international (GCI). In 1993, Global Green USA (GG USA) was created when President Gorbachev invited activist and philanthropist Diane Meyer Simon to join his global environmental movement by founding the American affiliate of GCI.

Global Green USA, the United States affiliate of Green Cross International, fosters a global value shift toward a sustainable and secure world through education, advocacy, partnerships, and programs focused on the safe elimination of weapons of mass destruction, stemming climate change, reducing resource use, and preventing conflicts over fresh water.
Today, GCI has 26 affiliate countries with several more in early stages of development. Global Green USA is the only national environmental organization headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in Washington DC and San Francisco.
