Audrey Woods (Julianne Moore) is NY's top divorce attorney. She's made it to the top through a combination of intelligence, charm and hard work. And she has never lost a case. That is until Daniel Rafferty (Pierce Brosnan) comes to town, bringing with him his own savvy legal mind, a unique and charismatic showmanship and an equally perfect record in the courtroom.
Things really heat up when Audrey and Daniel take on opposing sides of the biggest divorce case in New York, with Daniel representing high-strung top fashion designer Serena (Parker Posey) and Audrey handling her wild rock star husband Thorne (Michael Sheen). As the volatile couple's case heats up, Daniel and Audrey rush to Ireland to win ownership of an historic Irish castle for their clients, only to find that they are thrown closer in ways they never imagined.
Can two people schooled in failed marriages ever believe in a 'lasting' love? With the help of no-nonsense New York Judge Stacey Abramovitz (Nora Dunn) and Audrey's age-defying mother Sara (Frances Fisher), Audrey and Daniel learn it is more important to fight for each other than fight against one another.
