Dear Friends,

Re: American Clean Energy and Security Act

Last month, my wife Keely and I spoke to the EPA and urged them to support the Waxman-Markey Climate Bill (known formally as the American Clean Energy and Security Act, HR 2454). The bill then went onto the House Energy and Commerce Committee and successfully passed.

That was an important first hurdle to clear, and now we have another.

This Friday (June 26th) the entire House will vote on this important and historical piece of legislation.

This bill has been quoted as, 'Too big to fail’. Last week the Obama Administration released a report on what we all know: the consequences of climate change are here and getting worse. Experts from across the federal government contributed to the report which detailed the various impacts, from higher temperatures and rising sea levels to deeper droughts and heavier rainfalls, which we are already seeing and will see more of in the future. But amidst all the doom and gloom, the report comes to a hopeful conclusion: it's not too late to act.

We encourage you to call your Congressman and urge them to support the bill, and to encourage your friends and colleagues to do the same.

If you need their contact information, please visit the NRDC Action Center at: http://www.nrdconline.org/nrdc/leg-lookup/search.tcl.

We need the bill to pass the House so it can get to President Obama's desk before the world comes together to reach a new agreement on climate change this December in Copenhagen. With your help we will win the House vote this week, celebrate our energy independence this July 4th, and come back re-energized to win in the Senate.

With thanks for your continued support,

Keely and Pierce Brosnan
